Recently, one of our clients, Travis Rand, went down to Port Aransas, TX for an adapted surf clinic put on by the Life Rolls On Foundation. Here is one of the pictures from that adventure.
On April 11th, the HHS Family happily supported our friends at the Austin Autism Society for the 2010 Bike Ride! The ride routes were simply stunning, with the race starting at Berry Springs Park and Preserve in Georgetown, TX. HHS volunteered to host a rest stop along the routes and enjoyed passing out refreshments to all the thirsty riders. In addition to refreshments, the HHS family also waved posters and pom poms as we cheered to all who passed by. This event was a winner and we hope to see everyone again next year!
On April 16th, the HHS team volunteered to host a Wii Adventures Booth for the VSA (Vision Strength Access) Art in the Park Festival. It was another grand success! VSA is a local organization providing opportunities for people with disabilities to have increased access to the arts. This event was organized for children of all ages and abilities and held at the Mexican American Cultural Center, where participants had a wonderful time making art projects ranging from modeling clay to face painting to nature bracelets! Also on the scene were live dancing, music, fishing lessons, Sarah the prize winning therapy dog, and tasty foods. This spectacular event will definitely not be missed next year and HHS is grateful to have been a part of it!
On Saturday, January 30th, 2010, Holistic Healthcare Services, LLC was proud to host its first ever booth at the Transition and College Fair hosted by Eanes ISD and Lake Travis ISD. The fair was a grand success! Many agency and community resource representatives were available to share information and answer questions regarding employment, funding sources for children with disabilities, housing, rights for people with disabilities, guardianship, respite care, transition services, life-long learning; post-high school education, and summer camps. HHS was also on hand to educate attendees about its numerous holistic therapeutic services including Recreational Therapy, Aquatic Therapy, Massage Therapy, Music Therapy, and Adaptive Assistive Technologies. HHS educated the parents on how we implement the Nintendo Wii into some of our existing clients' treatment plans, along with its therapeutic benefits. To spice things up, we even had some of our viewers with special needs participate in the Wii game play and they had a blast. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this event such a marvelous success. We can't wait to see everyone again next year!
